My goal for therapy is to create a safe space for clients that facilitates insight and awareness into their concerns, growth, and development psychologically. I believe that at the core of psychological health lie our relationships, those from the past and present, and the connection between both. And, to facilitate this relational growth and intelligence, I utilize an integrated approach to psychotherapy that pulls from interpersonal (interpersonal process therapy and time-limited dynamic psychotherapy) complimented by behavioral approaches (DBT) through a culturally sensitive lens. I also utilize tenets and techniques from the polyvagal theory to increase somatic/bodily awareness and nervous system regulation.
Inspired by Esther Perel’s philosophy, “the quality of our relationships determines the quality of our lives” I believe that helping individuals understand and challenge their maladaptive interpersonal patterns from the past and in the present, can promote a healthier life. I also believe that equipping clients with behavioral skills to navigate distress and challenges compliments this approach well. In addition to research that evidences the therapeutic effectiveness of these approaches, my professional experience of being a witness to clients’ change, reinforces my belief in this approach to treatment.
Hi! I am Dr. Nisha Molugu. I’m a generalist psychologist who trained in India and the US, exposing me to a diverse range of populations across age, nationality, ethnicity, etc. I work with individuals struggling with interpersonal concerns, anxiety, depression, life transitions, and more. While pain and suffering are a part of life, navigating them alone does not have to be. As your therapist, my goal is to provide a safe space to share, explore, and deepen your understanding of your concerns, and one that can facilitate growth and change. After setting your goals collaboratively, we will explore the influence of your relationships on your presenting concerns and discuss behavioral skills to mobilize change, with the ultimate goal of improving psychological health. I understand finding a good client-therapist fit can be overwhelming. If you are interested, I offer free 15-minute consultations online to explore your needs and assess fit.
