Educational Background and Experience
All therapists hold a Master’s degree in Counselling Psychology and have provided psychotherapy for a minimum of two years.
All therapists at the mind tab participate in supervision to ensure that clients are competently served. Regular supervision optimizes the therapist’s clinical knowledge and skills, resulting in quality client care.
Our therapists strive to hold a warm and safe space for everyone, including people facing minority stress based on gender, sexuality, socio-economic class, region, nationality, ethnicity, religion, disability, occupation, and/or spiritual identity.
Our therapists are LGBTQIA+ affirmative. We understand the broad range of stressors and issues unique to the LGBT community and modify our practices and interventions to best suit their needs. We strive to hold a compassionate space for the client’s lived experiences and journey towards positive identity development that results in claiming their gender and sexuality with pride.
Our therapists approach therapy as equals where both have their share of expertise, one of education and practice and the other of their lived experiences. We collaborate with the client at every step of the journey, from creating goals to attaining well-being.
We hold a non-judgmental stance towards our clients, which comes from being empathetic and aware that there is always more to one’s story.
Social Justice Perspective
Often, people enter therapy feeling as though something is “wrong” with them. However, in reality, it is the various socio-cultural and economic factors that are impacting their mental health. Therefore, we at The Mind Tab strive to confront the injustices and inequalities in society while providing therapy support. We take the social justice stance seriously as we cannot fully improve one’s mental health if there is no change in their systemic contexts.
